Yesterday I spoke with the local Texas Retired Teachers Association about why I write. I thought about this and realized I have a need to express myself. I’ve tried painting, but I don’t have the patience to put paint on canvas – I can’t sing – I taught for years and was able to express myself through sponsoring organization. So, writing became my drug of choice, and I have enjoyed every minute.
There have been times I have deleted chapters, sometimes I’ve deleted a word or two, but all in all I try to express what my heart is creating in my main characters. I don’t know why others write, but I know I don’t do it for recognition, or for the money (there hasn’t been much). I write to share Jesus.

Apache Mountain Romance
Holly felt desperate. Desperate because she wasn’t walking with God. Desperate because she was left at the altar and knew she would be considered an old maid. Billy Joe Perkins had ridden into Lordsburg with hurt in his heart. Women seduced a man, took their heart, and then bang; they shot you dead. His grandma had taught him to treat women right. He thought he had, but no more. A kidnapping and a bank robbery led to a mountain refuge in a massive snowstorm. Holly and Billy Joe learned that getting along would be their saving grace. Holly knew it wasn’t BJ that saved her; it was God. BJ just followed God’s instructions whether he knew it or not. Coming the end of October - first of November to Amazon I can remember as a child not being able to sleep on Christmas Eve just knowing that Santa was on his way. Then sneaking my way to the living room and looking three or four times a night until low and behold my presents were under the tree. I was always overjoyed at what I received - although, I must say I was quite spoiled and got what I asked for (only child) even though we couldn't afford much.
My parents worked hard and I never asked for much. I look now towards the heavens on Christmas Eve, wondering if tonight is the night He will return. Apparently on December 21 all the planets will align in the sky around midnight and put on a spectacular show. Is that what brought the Wise Men to see the new baby called Jesus? Each morning prior to putting my feet on the floor I thank God for the Blessing of Jesus. Will today be the day of His return? Whether it is or not, I know that my redeemer has prepared a place for me in eternity and one day I will go there and be with Him. Keep looking up fellow readers. Merry Christmas - S.B. Roth Life can certainly be fast and furious. My last blog was in June 2021 and here it is November 2021.
Check out my new Christmas read . . . short, not time consuming and it’s on Kindle Unlimited! UPDATE: BOOK 2 OF THE WATERSTOWN ROMANCE SERIES IS SET TO PUBLISH ON SEPTEMBER 11, 2021. Small towns – I live in the middle of one. I haven’t always lived in this quaint community, but I have lived here long enough to call it my hometown. Not my birthplace, just my hometown. When my parents moved to this community I was intrigued plus overwhelmed. I had lived in small communities before but never one that was so inviting. My new series is about a small town. I have written it from the heart and how I have felt living in my hometown. Places I mention are often the places that have given me such good memories. It’s not about the people in the community but the feelings that come from loving where you live. A Waterstown Romance Series is not written to tell stories of the town, not at all. The places I mention are often real places in the community, but aside from that, it is pure fiction. As a woman of faith, my books share stories of individuals who are on a journey. The journey includes finding themselves, finding true love, but most of all finding Jesus in their everyday life. The first book, Unexpected Romance, should arrive by late summer. The remaining books will be published every 6-9 weeks afterward. I hope you enjoy this series. |
